A vacant trailer in a mobile park home on Des Moines' south side caught fire on the early morning of Thursday, Aug. 28.

Des Moines firefighters responded to a call about the trailer in the 2800 block of Southeast 14th Street at 3:45 a.m. and found it engulfed in flames. Crews were able to extinguish the fire at Glenwood Mobile Home Park but are unsure who made the call, said Gene Emery, a spokesperson for the Des Moines Fire Department.

This is the second trailer in the Glenwood lot that has caught fire in the last two months, Emery said.

The abandoned "hoarding trailer" had "quite a bit of stuff" but was still connected to utility services, including gas and water, he said.
