TEMPE, Ariz. — A Valley school district has unveiled plans to potentially close multiple campuses due to projected enrollment loss.
On Aug. 27, a special committee met to review proposed options for closing campuses throughout the Kyrene School District in Tempe and Chandler.
The proposals include multiple options for shutting down Kyrene schools located on the west and east sides of Interstate 10.
On the west side, the options include potentially closing Monte Vista, Estrella, Colina and Akimel A-al. On the east side, the options include potentially closing Norte, Mirada, Mariposa, Paloma, Brisas and Pueblo.
The committee additionally examined how to possibly draw the boundaries for Kyrene's middle school campuses if Pueblo closed.
