LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — On Thursday, Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin applauded the Eastern District of Arkansas after it ruled in favor of the state in the case of Cherokee Nation Businesses v. State of Arkansas.

The legal matter originally began as Cherokee Nation was attempting to reclaim its license for a $320 million resort in Pope County after Arkansas voters struck it down during a November election.

Cherokee Nation pushed back against this strike down and said that the move violated the US Constitution.

Thursday's ruling follows months of back-and-forth between the state and the casino, with the issue going to trial back in March but ending without a verdict.
