ATLANTA — The White House will reportedly named Jim O’Neill as acting director for the Atlanta-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The Washington Post reported the news about O'Neill Thursday evening. NBC News also said an administration official also shared that U.S. Heath and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will tap O'Neill to lead the CDC as its acting director.
O'Neill is a top deputy to Kennedy.
The news comes one day after HHS shared on social media that CDC Director Susan Monarez was no longer with the public health agency, adding that Kennedy had "full confidence" in the team at the CDC that would continue to do meaningful work.
