GARDNER, Kan. (KCTV) - A man was taken to the hospital Thursday morning after being shot near a ballpark in Gardner, Kansas.

At approximately 4 a.m. on Aug. 28, officers responded to shots fired at Bedford and Warren Streets outside Westside Park.

Upon arrival, police found a man inside a car suffering from gunshot wounds.

Officers immediately administered CPR until the ambulance arrived. The man was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Gardner police were in the area into late Thursday morning, looking for evidence and speaking with witnesses.

A spokesperson for the City of Gardner said they have had one shooting in the 2021-2025 timeframe.

It was a shocking morning for Rachel and Michael Homen, who woke to gunshots around 4 a.m. and called police.
