Altoona, Pa. (WTAJ) — There are new details on the federal government's plan to close the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) office in Altoona.
An IRS employee confirmed that operations on 11th Avenue will shut down before Nov. 30, but employees have not been notified of a specific date that will be their last day.
WTAJ first reported on the closure after the office was listed on the Department of Government Efficiency's (DOGE) "Wall of Receipts", which lists all federal grants, leases and contracts the government will cease spending on. According to that listing, closing this office would save the government $70 thousand annually.
However, this lease appears to have been removed from the DOGE website and is no longer listed as being set for closure, but plans to shut down are still moving
