SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - Just after 6 p.m. Thursday evening, the Springfield Fire Department responded to a fire at the Liberty Laundromat on Liberty Street.

Western Mass News crew were on-scene and witnessed smoke billowing from the laundromat as well as fire crews containing the fire on the roof.

According to the Springfield Fire Department, the first crews that arrived spotted a fire in the vents for the dryers in the laundromat, there were no reported injuries in response to the fire.

It is believed the cause of the fire was due to excessive lint build up in the ventilation system. The Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad is still currently investigating.
