SPARTANBURG, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - Spartanburg City Council approved a $70 million development project to build apartments on Monday.
The development is set to be at the former Beaumont Mill site off North Pine Street. It is a large vacant commercial lot between Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System’s headquarters and the Ambulatory Surgery Center.
The development is for multi-family apartments for rent, including 247 market-rate apartments and 28 workforce units.
Spartanburg City Manager Chris Story said the project will help meet the city’s “rapidly growing housing demand” and boost local government revenue.
A traffic study determined that the vast majority of traffic would not affect the Beaumont Village area . The project will also help connect the Dan Trail network.
