PORTLAND, Ore. — All students from Portland Public Schools will be released two hours early due to anticipated extreme heat on Friday. School just started this week.
According to an email sent out by PPS , over the past week, both students and staff have experienced heat-related illness despite heat mitigation efforts, including opening windows early, closing blinds, adjusting room assignments, providing water and using fans.
Friday is set to be warm and hazy, with high temperatures close to 90 degrees, according to KGW meteorologist Matt Zaffino.
