The second day of the Civil Service Commission hearing for Michael Proctor , the former State Police investigator fired for misconduct in the Karen Read case , went forward on Wednesday as he appeals his dismissal.

Daniel J. Moynihan, a lawyer for Proctor, resumed his cross-examination of State Police Detective Lieutenant Kevin Dwyer, an internal affairs official who reviewed Proctor’s case.

Proctor was fired in March after he was forced during Read’s first trial in June 2024 to read multiple crude, misogynistic texts he had sent about her to friends and coworkers on his personal cell phone. The texts came to light as part of a federal grand jury probe into state law enforcement’s handling of the Read case.
