YUMA, AZ (AZFamily) — Just west of Yuma, residents in Holtville, California , are recovering after Monday’s severe weather damaged homes, uprooted trees and knocked down hundreds of power poles.

Gerardo Ramirez’s work car and home were crushed when a tree came crashing down. By Thursday morning, a local tree-cutting business stepped in to help for free, clearing debris and offering some relief to Ramirez and his family of seven.

Their home suffered roof and water damage, leaving them displaced. “Hopeless. What are we going to do? What is going to happen?” Ramirez said.

Ramirez said he was grateful for the community members who stepped up to help.
