FLORENCE, AZ (AZFamily) — State lawmakers are demanding answers after a dangerous inmate tricked the prison system into releasing him decades before his sentence was up.
You could call it a clever prison break pulled off by Arizona inmate David Cramer. He walked out a free man in June after he was put behind bars in 2014 for felony charges, including kidnapping.
“What’s going on with Cramer? I keep hearing about an inmate that got out?” Sen. Kevin Payne, a Republican from Peoria , asked Arizona’s Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry Director Ryan Thornell during a committee hearing on Tuesday .
