PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Travel authorities are expecting a record high number of flyers and road-trippers this Labor Day weekend.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) says more than 48,000 flights will take to the skies on Friday. According to Barrons , the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) expects to screen about 17.4 million people at airport security checkpoints across the U.S. between Aug. 28 and Sept. 3.

Last year, TSA screened over 17 million passengers during Labor Day weekend, which broke the previous travel record.

AAA had some good news for travelers: flights, hotels and car rentals are cheaper this Labor Day weekend compared to last year.
