MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) — The Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison (GMUG) National Forests announced on Thursday that it will be reducing the Turner Gulch Wildfire public closure area on Friday at noon.

The reduction is expected to last until Oct. 1 at noon unless rescinded by officials.

The updated closure area is located in the south and east area of Highway 141 in Mesa County. It now includes: • The eastern boundary is a 100-foot western buffer off National Forest System Road (NFSR) 402 that starts at the forest boundary and ends at the intersection with NSFR 404. • Northwest of and including NSFR 404 or Uranium Road closure ends at the intersection with NFSR 405 or Pine Mountain Road. • The western forest boundary forms the westernmost boundary of the closure area.
