ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Demonstrators took to Georgia’s capitol Thursday demanding answers from Gov. Brian Kemp.
“We’re protesting what Donald Trump has been doing in D.C., which is the illegal takeover of the D.C. police,” said Genny Kennedy, organizer with the Party for Socialism and Liberation.
Protesters expressed concern that what’s happening in D.C. could happen in Georgia.
Earlier this week, Gov. Brian Kemp said Georgia will mobilize 75 troops to help with admin and logistical duties for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
“I think what this administration is trying to do is set up for martial law. They’re trying to get citizens accustomed to seeing military men and women in their communities,” said State Rep. Derrick Jackson.
