NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk State University's home opener went beyond the numbers on the field Thursday night.
There was also a special surprise for a Hampton Roads 3-year-old who is battling congenital heart disease.
Kodi, from Newport News, has fought to live through open-heart surgeries and long hospital stays, but Thursday night, his family took a step away from all of that: he was surprised, on the field, with a trip to Disney World.
Kodi battles hypoplastic left heart syndrome, his mom Keisha Reynolds told 13News Now.
“It’s hard to see him opened up, open chest, open heart," said Reynolds. "Praying your child will make it through a diagnosis like this one has been a rollercoaster of emotions. With that, he’s had two open-heart surgeries, and we are waiting to have one more open-heart
