SPEARFISH, S.D. (Dakota News Now) -The USF Cougars are motivated after being overlooked for the Division II playoffs last fall despite an 8-3 record in Jim Glogowski’s 2nd year as head coach.

And their quarterback Camden Dean played like it in Spearfish Thursday night in the season opener for both teams.

He raced 34 yards for a score and followed that up with a 38 yard TD pass to Isiah Emmanuel for a 14-0 lead.

Josh Breske’s team battled back behind the combination of Luke Doby to T.J. Chukwurah as they connected 3 times for touchdowns through the air.

But Bubba Tann and Dean had rushing TD’s and USF held on for a 27-21 win to start the season. Dean passed and rushed for a combined 372 yards and a trio of scores in the victory.
