LA PUENTE — There are going to be ups and downs for the Bishop Amat football team.

A week after rolling past rival St. Paul, Amat came back to earth with a 38-10 loss to Oak Hills at home on Thursday night.

It was not much a surprise.

Oak Hills finished 10-1 last season and competed in the CIF-SS Division 2 playoffs while the Lancers are trying to rebuild following a two-win season under new head coach Kory Minor.

Bishop Amat looked like it had seized some momentum in the second quarter to pull within four points at half and with the ball to start the third quarter.

But Oak Hills got all the big stops and made the big plays, blanking the Lancers 24-0 in the second half to pull away and improve to 2-0 while dropping the Lancers to 1-1.
