Brits jetting off to the sun-drenched beaches of Bali in Indonesia are being advised to keep their documentation close at hand, following a clampdown by local authorities.

Holidaymakers sipping cocktails on the beach now face "spot checks" from local officials, who may demand to see a passport and proof of their right to stay in the country. This move comes as Indonesian authorities aim to curb an apparent increase in visa overstays and illegal immigration, with a significant influx noted at the start of 2025.
