The Ireland game is in the books and college football season kicks off its first full weekend with one of the best opening slates in the history of the sport.

Reigning national champion Ohio State hosts Heisman Trophy favorite Arch Manning and Texas, Alabama travels to Florida State, Clemson hosts LSU, Virginia Tech plays South Carolina, Miami hosts Notre Dame and UNC starts the Bill Belichick era against TCU on Monday Night Football. That's quite a slate.

Eight of those teams are included in the preseason US LBM Coaches Poll , including the top-ranked Longhorns and second-ranked Buckeyes. It's the start of a journey that culminates with the national championship game of the College Football Playoff on Monday, Jan. 19, 2026 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
