ST. CLAIR SHORES – Behind an early first quarter touchdown, St. Clair Shores Lakeview grabbed the lead and never trailed in recording a 21-7 victory Thursday over visiting Lapeer in the prep football season opener for both teams.
Travis Kelley scored on a 20-yard run and Alan Koles nailed the extra point for the 7-0 advantage after one quarter. That lead stood heading into halftime.
Both teams traded off scoring drives in the third quarter with Dion Lacey’s 4-yard run and a Koles PAT giving the Huskies a 14-0 advantage before the Lightning trimmed it to 14-7 later in the frame.
Gavin McKee capped the scoring drives in the fourth frame with a 10-yard TD pass to Logan Grubb with Koles splitting the uprights on the extra point for a third time.
