FAYETTEVILLE -- After selecting game-by-game team captains all last season, University of Arkansas Coach Sam Pittman has returned to his former practice of naming permanent team captains as selected by the players this year.

Pittman announced Monday the team had voted in quarterback Taylen Green and offensive lineman Fernando Carmona to serve as offensive captains, tackle Cam Ball and linebacker Xavian Sorey Jr. to serve as defensive captains and punter Devin Bale as a special teams captain.

He added there would be a second special teams captain selected in further voting this week and that player is expected to be announced with the full group Saturday morning. Pittman said the choice to have two special teams captains was the product of a staff decision to focus more on the kicking gam
