As they see their hard-won civil rights being rolled back by President Donald Trump, Black leaders and organizations say they are preparing to re-fight the battles they thought they had won decades ago.
“I thought there were some foundational things I never had to worry about again: the right to vote, the right to an education, the right to live wherever my parents could afford, things of that nature, being treated as a human of value,” said Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, D-N.J. “Those are all the things that are challenged under this administration, not only for me, but for almost everybody but straight white men.”
A. Lois Keith, national chair of the National Council of Negro Women, agreed. “Every time I pick up the paper or something flashes across my Facebook or CNN, it’s
