A Hamilton woman has been left homeless after her neighbour's house went up in flames.

Susanne McMurray - a heart attack patient - claims she warned authorities of a fire risk at the property before tragedy struck.

In fear for her life, Susanne, 54, was forced to flee her semi-detached council flat in Tulloch Court, off Highstonehall Road, on August 15 when she saw smoke and flames engulfing the house next door.

Neighbours watched in horror as firefighters battled the raging inferno which gutted the property.

At the time a shocked neighbour said the male tenant was lucky to be alive after leaving the house just before the fire started.

They added that the woman next door got out "just in time".
