A fugitive wanted for allegedly beating a toddler to death in Ohio was captured Wednesday in Framingham, according to the US Marshals Service.

Dioblis Williams, 25, was arrested on a warrant charging him with homicide of a child, the US Marshals Service said in a statement.

Ohio television station WSYX-TV reported that the beating occurred in March 2020, after Columbus police responded to reports of a 2-year-old drowning in a bathtub.

An autopsy later revealed the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the abdomen, after Williams allegedly repeatedly struck the child, according to WSYX-TV.

The marshal’s service in Ohio and police in Columbus had reached out to their counterparts in Massachusetts to say they believed Williams was in the state, the marshal’s service said in a state
