Plans to build 100 homes at a site on the edge of Houston – which sparked hundreds of objections – have been refused by Renfrewshire councillors. ‌

Miller Homes proposed the development, including a mix of detached and semi-detached housing as well as flats, for land next to Barochan Road. ‌

However, despite a recommendation from officers to grant the bid for planning permission, subject to conditions, it was rejected by a majority of elected members on Tuesday. ‌

Councillor Andy Doig, an independent representative for Johnstone North and the surrounding villages, expressed concerns about the number of cars that could arise from such an estate.
