Angela Rayner has swerved a huge £40,000 stamp duty bill on her new flat by the sea, after telling tax authorities it was her main residence . ‌

The Deputy Prime Minister is believed to have removed her name from the deeds of her house in Greater Manchester, just weeks before splashing out £800,000 on a plush apartment in Hove, East Sussex. ‌

This meant she could dodge a stamp duty bill for £70,000 which she would have been hit with if the Hove flat was listed as her second home. Instead, she is said to have paid only £30,000, according to the Telegraph. ‌

However, she informed both Tameside and Brighton and Hove councils that her property in Greater Manchester is still her primary residence and the flat was a second home.
