There’s a push in Lansing to crack down on drivers who flee from police.

A bill was discussed in the House Judiciary committee this week that would stiffen penalties for leading officers on a chase. State Representative Rylee Linting, a Republican from Grosse Ile Township, introduced the bill.

“ Our law enforcement officers on the ground will tell you, this issue is only getting worse,” Linting said. “ Not long after I was elected, I sat down with Police Chief Hamilton of Wyandotte to discuss how I could support his department and help create safer communities in Downr iver and across the state of Michigan.
