Arizona has many deadly creatures to watch out for, whether it's rattlesnakes , Gila monsters or scorpions .

However, those creepy critters aren't even close to being the deadliest.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, the deadliest animal in the world is the mosquito.

"The mosquito kills more people than any other creature in the world," the CDC said, noting the flying nuisance spreads such diseases as malaria, dengue, West Nile, yellow fever, Zika and chikungunya .

The Arizona Department of Health Services confirms that there are more than 40 species of mosquito that live in the state, and some of them can carry illnesses.
