The summer is almost over, and plenty of American citizens have traveled abroad to faraway destinations to enjoy tropical weather, white beaches, and exotic food. Yet, many people decided to stay at home. Some of them may have done so simply because of the high costs of an international vacation. Flights can be extremely expensive, and so is the documentation needed to travel abroad.

According to the U.S. Department of State , passport books cost $130 for the application fee plus $35 for the facility acceptance fee.
