SIMSBURY, CT (WFSB) - A mother black bear was caught on camera wrestling her cubs in Simsbury.

Sgt. Jean Pierre of the Simsbury Police Department recorded the family playing around in the grass and on a tree truck.

The videos were sent in through the WFSB News App .

The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said that females with cubs tend to have restricted home ranges that average 5 to 7 square miles in Connecticut.

DEEP said bears are not quite ready to start the denning process.

In Connecticut, most bears den from late November through mid-March. Females tend to remain in the den for a longer period of time than males.
