PHOENIX – A man who wanted to get rid of what he thought might be an explosive device caused a bomb scare Thursday afternoon in Phoenix, authorities said.

The man brought the device to the Papago Park Military Reservation near 56th Street and McDowell Road around 3:45 p.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.
