FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Hours before a $10,000-a-day fine was set to start for Fulton County on Thursday evening, the superior court granted a reprieve.
It's the latest turn in a long-running legal dispute between Fulton County Republicans and county commissioners over the makeup of the elections board.
Earlier this week, Fulton County Superior Court Judge David Emerson found the Board of Commissioners in civil contempt for not complying with his order to seat two Republican nominees to the board.
But Thursday evening, he granted a stay of those sanctions while the Fulton Board of Commissioners appeals.
