GILMER COUNTY, Ga. — Two people were injured and airlifted after a fire and explosion were reported at a Gilmer County vineyard and winery on Thursday morning, according to the sheriff's office .

It happened around 11:30 a.m. when emergency crews responded to the Roo Mountain Vineyards on Old Flat Branch Road in Ellijay. The fire was out when emergency crews arrived, and the gas was secured.

According to the sheriff's office, the two people who were injured were taken to a burn center.

The sheriff's office said the scene was "quickly brought under control."

Fire marshals and inspectors were notified to further investigate the cause of the fire and explosion.

The sheriff's office is asking people to avoid the area while officials are on scene.
