PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – After frequently sending cars airborne and causing several crashes in recent months, the stretch of U.S. 26 known as "The Bump" has officially been fixed, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation.

The major roadwork near Milepost 13 — roughly 20 miles east of Seaside — began on Monday, Aug. 18, as crews worked to excavate ditches on both sides of the road, install several new drainpipes with rock and filter fabric, repave asphalt and more.

As of Thursday, all four lanes have reopened to traffic, just in time for the Labor Day weekend.

However, ODOT says crews will continue work improving ditches and removing trees beginning in September. As such, officials encourage drivers to continue slowing down in the area and to watch for workers and equipment.
