A Georgia man died after being pulled from the ocean off of North Carolina's Outer Banks on Friday, officials said.
According to the Town of Nags Head, fire and rescue personnel were called to the Glidden public beach access around 10:14 a.m. for reports of a swimmer in distress. There, they found the victim, who had been pulled from the ocean before first responders arrived.
Rescue personnel began performing emergency medical care, and the man was taken to The Outer Banks Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The victim has not been publicly identified, but officials said he was a 65-year-old man from Atlanta.
It's not known at this time if rip currents contributed to this incident.
