Walker Buehler is a free agent.

The Boston Red Sox released the veteran right-hander on Friday, the team announced.

Buehler, 31, signed a one-year contract with the Red Sox worth $21.05 million in December, but has struggled in his short time in Boston.

Through 112 innings of work, Buehler has 84 strikeouts and 55 walks, and his 5.45 ERA is the second-worst of his career, topped only by the 7.71 average in his rookie season.

Prior to signing in Boston, Buehler spent all seven of his pro seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers, winning the World Series in both 2020 and 2024.

The two-time All-Star owns a career 3.56 ERA with a 54-25 record.
