Beckville ISD mourns loss of junior high student

BECKVILLE, Texas (KETK)-- The Beckville ISD community is grieving after the district announced on Thursday that one of its students died.

The schools shared that with profound sadness, junior high student Jose Mercado died on Thursday morning. "With heavy hearts, we ask that the Beckville community join us in lifting up the student's family in your thoughts and prayers during this unimaginably difficult time," the district said.

As a symbol of support and unity, the Panola County Chamber of Commerce illuminated its chamber building in blue. They said this is a reminder that they are not alone, and neighbors in Panola County stand beside each other.
