COLUMBUS, Ohio — As thousands of Buckeye fans are expected to descend on Ohio Stadium this Saturday for the season’s first home game against Texas, law enforcement officials are urging caution for those who plan to celebrate before kickoff.

Tailgating has long been a tradition outside the Horseshoe , where food, music and alcohol often flow freely. But this weekend, undercover officers with the Ohio Investigative Unit will be keeping a close watch — particularly for underage drinkers and those who supply alcohol to them.

“We see a lot of underage alcohol consumption out there,” said Eric Wolf, enforcement commander for the unit. “We have people who are directly purchasing alcohol or getting someone to purchase alcohol for them.”
