Huge fire breaks out next to Scots beach as flames take hold near homes

A large fire broke out on scrubland near Aberdeen’s Bridge of Don, at Donmouth Beach, sending towering flames just yards from nearby homes. ‌

Dramatic images show orange flames tearing through dense gorse on the riverbank, with plumes of smoke rising above the residential area. ‌

Residents in the area reported smelling smoke before realising a blaze had taken hold. One shocked local said: “This is what I was smelling…” ‌
