If Sudbury's trees are healthy, so are its people: City's tree warden 

There are a few trees in Greater Sudbury that Derrick LaPorte likes to visit on occasion.

LaPorte, the city’s tree warden, admits he has a few favourites, including a tulip tree located near Grandview Boulevard.

“I’ve got favourite trees I go check on every year,” he said in an interview. “I love the ginkgos down at the boardwalk at the David Street pumping station. I’m a really big fan of the ginkgo trees. They’ve got some really majestic elms along there, too. I found a couple of catalpa trees that are really cool, one just off Spruce Street, so I go to check on it, to see how it’s doing.”

So taken with the tulip tree was LaPorte that he planted several in front of the Canada Revenue Agency, at Notre Dame Avenue and Lasalle Boulevard. Unfortunately, he said the
