There are a few trees in Greater Sudbury that Derrick LaPorte likes to visit on occasion.
LaPorte, the city’s tree warden, admits he has a few favourites, including a tulip tree located near Grandview Boulevard.

“I’ve got favourite trees I go check on every year,” he said in an interview. “I love the ginkgos down at the boardwalk at the David Street pumping station. I’m a really big fan of the ginkgo trees. They’ve got some really majestic elms along there, too. I found a couple of catalpa trees that are really cool, one just off Spruce Street, so I go to check on it, to see how it’s doing.”
