JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) -- Ahead of Labor Day, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is urging families to be safe.

“Labor Day is a time of celebration, but it’s also a time when preventable accidents can occur,” said Sheriff Pettway. “Our priority is making sure everyone celebrates safely.” Pettway also posted to the sheriff's office Facebook page to offer reminders.
