MANCHESTER, N.H. —

New Hampshire Democrats are starting a new town hall series to bolster efforts to retain the state's first-in-the-nation primary status, starting with a potential 2028 presidential contender.

When New Hampshire Democrats were in the primary wilderness last cycle, shunned by the president and their party, U.S. Rep. Ro Khanna, D-California, was the lone Democrat on the national stage willing to stand up and champion New Hampshire's first-in-the-nation primary status.

In an interview Friday, he said he still believes the Granite State embodies the best of America's tradition of civic engagement.
