Hall County officials have issued a rabies alert after a person came into contact with a rabid cat in the Gillsville area.

The incident happened in the 4000 block of Campground Drive. The cat was tested at the Georgia Public Health Lab in Decatur, which confirmed the rabies diagnosis on Friday, August 29.

Animal Control says warning signs will be posted around the neighborhood where the animal was found. Residents are asked to be alert for any strange-acting wildlife or pets.
