BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — THE CLOSURE OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS’ northernmost section, which began earlier this month, has been extended through Friday, Sept. 19, according to an announcement in the Aug. 29 Community Board 2 newsletter.

The Brooklyn Eagle had reported on Aug. 4 the scheduled start date of Aug. 11 for repairs to the Columbia Heights bridge. The street was closed from Cranberry to Middagh streets. The city Department of Transportation now needs to extend the timeframe so it can make additional repairs to the Columbia Heights Bridge joints, thus reducing the need for additional disruptions later.
