Friday was the last day for Kohan Retail Investment Group — current owner of Billings’ Rimrock Mall property — to pay up on their delinquent 2024 property taxes, before the property’s tax lien can be purchased by an outside party.

Yellowstone County Treasurer Hank Peters wasn’t surprised to not receive payment by the end of the month, after multiple attempts to reach the owners.

“We have been in contact with the new owners,” Peters said.

Ownership of Rimrock Mall changed hands in November.

Peters said the county sent a postcard in July, and a copy of the tax lien on Aug. 1.

“We didn’t hear anything back from those mailings,” he said.
