BILLINGS — Billings Central freshman Addison Kegel scored a convincing win at the season-opening Billings Invitational cross country race on Friday at Amend Park.

Kegel clocked a time of 17:51.3 for the victory, while Lyla Marney of Big Horn, Wyoming, finished second in 18:55.0. Hardin's Zoey Real Bird was third in 18:59.7 and Kelli McNiven of Burlington, Wyoming, fourth in 19:33.3. Jane Allen placed fifth for Billings West in 20:25.6.

On the boys' side, junior Ben Bird of Hardin was first in 15:48.7 and West's Kye McAbee placed second in 15:57.6. Kellen Winters of Burlington was third in 16:38.3 and Marek Frick of Belgrade fourth in 16:45.3. Keaton Sample of Colstrip placed fifth with a time of 17:04.7.
