Detroit Tigers radio and television announcer Dan Dickerson has stepped away from the team for a few days to be with his mother, who is battling serious health issues.
Dickerson had been scheduled to handle TV duties Friday night for the Tigers’ series opener in Kansas City, filling in for Jason Benetti while he worked a football assignment.
Instead, MLB Network contributor and former Marlins broadcaster Paul Severino will call Friday’s game on television. Benetti will return to the booth on Saturday.
Benetti will return to handle TV duties on Saturday.
On radio, Greg Gania -- the voice of the Tigers’ Double-A affiliate in Erie and a frequent fill-in on Tigers broadcasts the past two seasons -- will call games until Dickerson returns.
