An Upstate Vietnam War veteran will be honored by a roaring crowd at Clemson University's first football game of the season.

Meaders was drafted into war at 20 years old, among the oldest sent into the jungles of Vietnam in 1967. Before the draft, he graduated basic training in Fort Benning, Georgia and was awarded his Jump Wings. He went on to train troops in advanced individual training.

His age presented a leadership role for fellow soldiers in their teens when the U.S. Army called him in for duty.
