BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office says two separate operations this week led to eight arrests and the seizure of lethal fentanyl, meth, and other drugs, and multiple illegal firearms, including stolen weapons and a machine gun.

Deputies say investigators removed more than 1.7 pounds of fentanyl from the streets, enough for over 7,800 potentially lethal doses. They also seized eight illegally possessed firearms.

Case 1: Bluebonnet Blvd. search

Location: 3400 block of Bluebonnet Blvd

Seized :

1.72 pounds of fentanyl

6.9 ounces of crystal meth

Synthetic THC, marijuana, paraphernalia, and drug-cutting equipment

Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun

$1,181 in cash

Arrests :

Malchai Tillman Jr., 46: multiple drug distribution and weapons charges, including fentany
